High-Level Synthesis (HLS) Compiler Engineer (Contract)

Role Summary

Work on the HLS compiler team to develop and maintain compiler infrastructure that translates C/C++ into efficient hardware implementations for FPGA/SoC targets. The role focuses on compiler passes, code transformation, integration, testing, and performance/resource optimization.

Experience Level

Mid-level - requires 3+ years of relevant experience in compiler development, C/C++, or hardware flows.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include implementing and validating compiler functionality and improving the compilation flow from high-level code to hardware descriptions.

• Develop and maintain HLS compiler infrastructure and passes.
• Implement code transformations and optimizations targeting hardware synthesis.
• Analyze and improve the flow from C/C++ to hardware description languages.
• Integrate, test, and benchmark new features with emphasis on performance and resource usage.
• Debug and validate compiler outputs against expected hardware behavior.
• Document work and contribute to internal technical knowledge bases.
• Research compiler techniques for AI computation workloads and apply findings to the compiler toolchain.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience, with additional preferred skills listed separately.

• Must-have: 3+ years of relevant experience in compiler development, toolchains, or hardware flows.
• Proficient in C/C++ (academic, project, or professional experience).
• Familiarity with compiler concepts: parsing, code generation, and optimization.
• Exposure to digital logic design fundamentals and FPGA/ASIC hardware flows.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with MLIR, LLVM, Clang, HLS tools (e.g., Vivado HLS, Intel HLS), hardware description languages (Verilog/VHDL), or prior coursework/internship in compiler development or hardware synthesis.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required (as stated in the minimum qualifications).
