HBM Staff Component Validation Engineer
Micron TechnologyJob Title
HBM Staff Component Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Staff Engineer on Micron’s High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) Component Validation team responsible for defining validation standards, delivering stable and scalable validation test infrastructure, and owning test-flow optimization for advanced HBM products.
This role leads technical problem solving, drives validation deliverables, and mentors junior engineers. The position is based at Fab 10A in Singapore.
Experience Level
Senior (Staff) level — typically requires 5+ years of relevant semiconductor product engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include test program development, infrastructure readiness, and cross-functional validation leadership.
- Develop, maintain, and release test programs for HBM component validation; enforce code quality and review practices.
- Optimize test time and increase test parallelism; improve stability and repeatability across sites and equipment.
- Debug test programs on multiple ATE platforms and lead root-cause analyses and corrective actions.
- Qualify and re-qualify test equipment; manage hardware readiness (handlers, sockets, etc.).
- Forecast validation capacity based on product ramps and coverage requirements.
- Own validation platform health, availability, uptime, and support pathfinding activities.
- Define and implement standards for continuous improvement in test development and validation infrastructure.
- Collaborate across component validation, design validation, electrical failure analysis, and lab support teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, tools experience, and domain knowledge. Preferred items are listed separately.
- Must-have: 5+ years hands-on experience in semiconductor product engineering and validation (DRAM/HBM preferred).
- Must-have: 5+ years hands-on test pattern and code development using C/C++ and Python on ATE platforms (examples: Teradyne, Advantest); familiarity with APG (Algorithmic Pattern Generator).
- Must-have: Experience implementing DFT/functional tests (loopback, MBIST, scan) and working knowledge of computer architecture and DRAM concepts.
- Must-have: Proven experience leading product development engineering or validation engineering efforts and mentoring junior engineers.
- Experience maintaining version control and documentation (Git/Perforce, Confluence, Jira) and participating in code reviews and release processes.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with high-speed I/O validation, eye-diagram analysis, signal integrity checks, and analog/mixed-signal or ASIC validation backgrounds.
- Nice-to-have: Experience applying AI/automation for test optimization and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required. The role typically expects 5+ years of relevant semiconductor product engineering experience; candidates with equivalent experience in analog mixed-signal design, ASIC design/verification, or silicon validation may be considered.
