Role Summary

As a Layout Design Engineer on Micron's High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) team in Guadalajara, you will produce physical layouts for HBM products and support verification and delivery for AI and high-performance computing applications. The role involves collaboration with global engineering teams and applying automation to accelerate development.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early-career — 2+ years of relevant experience in VLSI, PCB design, pre-silicon development, or semiconductor engineering.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include physical layout and verification for HBM components and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

• Perform physical layout of leaf cells, standard cells, and sub-blocks for HBM products.
• Implement and interpret physical verification checks (DRC, LVS) and related validation activities.
• Collaborate with multi-functional global teams to ensure successful project execution and timely delivery.
• Apply a systematic, detail-oriented approach to IC layout design and proactively manage assignments.
• Apply AI-driven methodologies to automate engineering processes and accelerate product development cycles.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical skills and experience (degree details listed under Education Requirements).

• Must-have: 2+ years experience in VLSI, PCB design, pre-silicon development, semiconductor engineering, or related areas.
• Must-have: Strong understanding of electronic circuit fundamentals and experience with circuit simulation and design tools.
• Must-have: Effective communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills; conversational English proficiency.
• Must-have: Self-motivated team player with a strong interest in semiconductor technology and professional growth.
• Preferred: Knowledge of analog circuits, physical design, and custom layout concepts.
• Preferred: Understanding of CMOS fundamentals and semiconductor fabrication processes.
• Preferred: Experience with Cadence Virtuoso (VLE/VXL), Mentor Graphics Calibre DRC/LVS, or similar EDA tools.
• Preferred: Programming or scripting experience (Python, C++).
• Preferred: Awareness of layout impacts on circuit performance (speed, capacitance, power) and area optimization; AI-enabled mindset for process improvement.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering, Nanotechnology, or a related technical field.
