Hardware Verification Intern (2027 Internship)

Role Summary

12-week, full-time internship on NVIDIA's hardware verification team focused on functional verification of GPU and processor designs. Interns work on verification projects that contribute measurable outcomes under mentor supervision.

Intern hourly rate: $20–$71 USD.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for students; suitable for current undergraduate or graduate students. Course or prior internship experience in digital design and verification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Intern responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute verification tests using SystemVerilog/UVM and related methodologies.
  • Create test plans, directed and random diagnostics, and functional coverage strategies.
  • Run simulations and use debug tools (for example, Verdi, DVE, Questa) to isolate and triage failures.
  • Apply assertion-based and formal verification techniques where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with architecture, design, and software teams to validate hardware features and interfaces.
  • Document test results and present findings to mentors and team members.

Requirements

Must-have technical knowledge and skills:

  • Familiarity with digital design concepts, VLSI design, and functional coverage.
  • Experience with verification languages and methodologies such as SystemVerilog, UVM, Verilog, or VHDL.
  • Experience using simulation and debug tools and writing testbenches.
  • Programming experience in one or more of: Python, C, C++, Tcl, Perl; comfortable using Linux.
  • Ability to work full-time for the 12-week internship and deliver project outcomes.

Nice-to-have:

  • Exposure to formal verification, GPU/processor verification, or software infrastructure for hardware validation.
  • Experience with random functional testing and assertion-based verification.
  • Familiarity with specific tools such as JasperGold, Verdi, or Questa.

Education Requirements

Must be actively enrolled in a university and pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field for the full duration of the internship. Anticipated graduation month and year must be indicated on the resume or CV.
