Job Title
Hardware & Silicon Validation Engineer - Early Career
Role Summary
Perform analog and silicon photonics validation on high-bandwidth optical electronic devices and receivers. Work within a small on-site validation team to run precision measurements, analyze results, debug failures, and support tape-out activities for internal and external customers.
This role is on-site in Westlake Village, CA, and involves hands-on lab work, measurement automation, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration with designers and systems teams.
Experience Level
Entry-level (0–3 years professional experience).
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include test setup, measurement, analysis, debugging, and reporting.
- Plan, set up, and calibrate test benches and measurement equipment (network analyzers, probe stations, component analyzers, microwave amplifiers).
- Execute analog and silicon photonics validation measurements and collect high-quality data.
- Analyze measurement results, summarize findings, and produce written reports and presentations.
- Debug test failures, iterate with mentors and designers to identify root causes and implement fixes.
- Maintain test scripts, data logs, and measurement procedures; automate workflows where practical using Python or C.
- Present results to the validation team and other stakeholders and support tape-out and product validation processes.
Requirements
Key technical skills and behavioral expectations.
-
Must-have: Proficiency with Python and C for test automation and data analysis.
-
Must-have: Practical experience with lab measurement equipment and procedures (VNAs, probe stations, amplifiers) or equivalent hands-on exposure.
-
Must-have: Understanding of single photonic device behavior and measurement implications.
-
Must-have: Strong attention to detail, ability to learn quickly, and effective teamwork and communication skills.
-
Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Cadence, Unix and Windows measurement environments, and experience presenting technical results to cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field is required. Posting also references specialized coursework in microwave or optical engineering for communications.
