Hardware Security Engineering Director
SiemensJob Title
Hardware Security Engineering Director
Role Summary
Lead the design and delivery of hardware and firmware security architecture for silicon lifecycle management, including cryptographic and authentication mechanisms, adversarial assessments, and protection of test IPs and Test Access Mechanisms (TAMs).
Work as part of an international, cross-functional team of hardware and software engineers to specify HW/SW interfaces, define security requirements, and drive implementation and validation across development and deployment stages.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Specific years of experience not specified in the posting.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design and architect secure hardware and firmware solutions to defend against physical, side-channel, and fault-injection threats.
- Implement cryptographic primitives, secure boot, hardware roots-of-trust, secure key storage, and hardware-accelerated encryption.
- Perform adversarial assessments and security testing to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
- Define overall security architecture and framework, and specify HW/SW interfaces and security software stack requirements.
- Advise and collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams on secure implementations and verification strategies.
- Translate customer silicon security requirements into concrete technical specifications for cross-functional teams.
- Represent the organization on internal and external security advisory committees and task groups.
- Lead security strategy initiatives that add value to products and solutions.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Strong understanding of digital and analog design and design flows.
- Experience designing secure hardware and firmware against physical and side-channel threats.
- Experience implementing hardware roots-of-trust, secure boot, secure key storage, and hardware-accelerated encryption mechanisms.
- Knowledge of cryptographic primitives, side-channel attacks, and fault-injection techniques.
- Expertise in hardware design and hardware description languages such as Verilog and SystemVerilog.
- Demonstrated analytical and creative problem-solving skills and effective oral and written communication in English.
Nice-to-have:
- Hands-on semiconductor design experience and familiarity with HDL simulation, logic synthesis, IC place-and-route, timing analysis, equivalence checking, CDC/RDC.
- Experience with AI/ML tools (TensorFlow, Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, large-language models) for analytics or diagnostics.
- Knowledge of FPGA hardware, CI/CD (Jenkins), Docker, and embedded systems.
