Hardware Junior Safety Engineer

Role Summary

The Junior Engineer in Functional Safety will support the CTO Functional Safety team to ensure the safety and reliability of semiconductor SoC products. The role involves assisting in safety assessments, reviews, and development of safety concepts for embedded systems under the guidance of senior engineers.

This position provides hands-on exposure to ISO 26262/IEC 61508 functional safety practices, system architecture, and safety analysis techniques.

Experience Level

Entry-level β€” suitable for candidates with up to 2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include assisting safety analysis, supporting reviews, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • Assist in understanding MCU/MPU safety architectures and conducting safety analyses (Fault Tree Analysis, Dependent Failure Analysis).
  • Support safety assessments and participate in peer reviews under senior guidance.
  • Promote functional safety awareness and best practices across teams.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems teams to support safety activities.
  • Contribute to process improvements and innovation for efficient safety assessments.
  • Apply analytical methods to identify issues and support problem resolution.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical skills and attributes.

  • Must-have: Basic understanding of hardware/semiconductor product development lifecycle (architecture, design, simulation, analysis).
  • Must-have: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Must-have: Ability to learn quickly and operate in complex, evolving technical environments.
  • Must-have: Willingness to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to embedded systems or automotive/industrial applications.
  • Nice-to-have: Basic awareness of ISO 26262 / IEC 61508 functional safety concepts.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with C/C++ programming, scripting, or software debugging tools.

Education Requirements

Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics and Communication Engineering. The role is aimed at candidates with up to 2 years of relevant experience.
