Hardware Engineering Intern
Role Summary
The intern will design and prototype hardware for measuring high-speed electrical signals, implement a data-acquisition chain, and perform experimental measurements in a laboratory/test environment. The work supports development and validation of measurement hardware using ADCs, FPGAs, microcontrollers and bench instruments.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Intended for current undergraduate or master's students with limited professional experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on hardware design, data acquisition implementation, and laboratory measurement.
- Design hardware circuits to measure high-speed electrical signals.
- Implement a data acquisition system (ADC + FPGA) and integrate with microcontrollers or host interfaces.
- Set up and execute experimental measurements of high-speed analog signals in the lab.
- Acquire and present measurement results via PC, display, or pass/fail indicators.
- Use oscilloscopes and basic signal-measurement equipment to validate designs and debug issues.
- Work independently to prototype, troubleshoot, and document test setups and results.
Requirements

- Must-have: Strong interest in hardware development and hands-on lab work; familiarity with oscilloscopes and basic signal-measurement equipment.
- Must-have: Ability to work independently, demonstrate creativity, and solve technical problems.
- Preferred: Exposure to microcontrollers (MCUs) or FPGA design; FPGA experience is preferred.
- Preferred: Practical experience with ADCs, data-acquisition chains, or similar mixed-signal hardware.
Education Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a closely related technical field from an accredited college or university.
