Job Title
Hardware Engineer - Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Design, prototype, and validate complex FPGA-based systems and RTL for advanced hardware development. Work within a cross-functional engineering team to deliver FPGA implementations, emulation, diagnostics, and test infrastructure.
The team focuses on multi-rack FPGA systems, hardware emulation platforms, and production-quality diagnostic and test capabilities to accelerate product development.
Experience Level
Senior-level β minimum 7+ years of hands-on RTL design and verification experience, preferably with complex FPGA systems and prototyping/emulation workflows.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include design, integration, validation, and testing of FPGA-based prototypes and emulation systems.
- Define, validate, and enable complex multi-rack FPGA-based systems for hardware prototyping.
- Develop and optimize RTL for Xilinx UltraScale, UltraScale+, and Versal FPGAs to meet performance and reliability goals.
- Drive hardware emulation and prototyping strategies on platforms such as Zebu and HAPS.
- Map RTL designs into FPGA environments and resolve implementation and verification issues.
- Create, run, and package diagnostic tests for production and field use.
- Run comprehensive tests to identify, analyze, and resolve hardware issues.
- Continuously improve functional and performance testing processes and documentation.
- Collaborate with R&D teams and mentor junior engineers as needed.
Requirements
Required technical skills and experience; candidates should meet most must-have items.
-
Must-have: 7+ years experience in RTL design and verification, with proven FPGA system work.
-
Must-have: Proficiency in Hardware Description Languages: Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog.
-
Must-have: Experience building and debugging SystemVerilog testbenches and using industry-standard EDA tools and methodologies.
-
Must-have: Experience with HDL simulation, emulation, and prototyping platforms.
-
Must-have: Scripting experience for automation (Shell, Perl, Python, Tcl).
-
Must-have: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with Xilinx UltraScale/UltraScale+/Versal devices, multi-rack FPGA systems, and emulation platforms like Zebu and HAPS.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience generating and packaging diagnostics for production/field use and mentoring peers.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (BS or MS).
