Job Title

Hardware Engineer, PCB

Role Summary

Design and deliver custom PCBs for Normal Computing's CIM substrate, owning schematic, layout, fabrication, and post-silicon bring-up. Collaborate with analog, digital, ML, and test teams to integrate custom silicon and optimize system-level power, performance, and area.

Experience Level

Mid-level. No explicit years-of-experience specified.

Responsibilities

The role requires ownership of PCB development, bring-up, and post-silicon validation.

  • Lead end-to-end PCB design flow: research, schematic, layout, fabrication, and evaluation of boards that host custom chips.
  • Lead post-silicon correlation, validation, root-cause analysis, and hardware debug.
  • Perform PCB bring-up to verify manufactured boards meet design intent.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with analog, digital, ML, and test engineers to improve system-level PPA.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience followed by nice-to-have items.

  • Proven experience owning multiple PCBs end-to-end through design, simulation, fabrication, and bring-up.
  • Familiarity with PCB design tools such as Altium, Cadence Allegro, OrCAD, or Xpedition.
  • Experience designing boards with FPGAs, high-speed memories, flash, PCIe or similar expansion formats, and high-speed connectors (e.g., 100G Ethernet).
  • Hands-on post-silicon validation and hardware debug experience, including root-cause analysis.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience fabricating and bringing up custom PCBs to evaluate custom CIM chips.
  • Comfortable in a lab bench environment, including fine soldering and microscope work.
  • Experience automating design flows or data processing using scripting languages such as Python or Perl.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
