Job Title

Hardware Engineer (FPGA)

Role Summary

Work on FPGA and ASIC applications that are central to a low-latency trading platform. Join the Hardware Design team to design, verify, and deploy production hardware used in live trading environments.

The role involves hands-on RTL development, verification, and coordinating hardware rollouts with operations and engineering teams.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early Career β€” typically 2+ years professional FPGA or ASIC experience. An advanced degree may substitute for part of the required professional experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver production-grade hardware designs and support their deployment and verification.

  • Design and develop RTL for low-latency trading applications.
  • Take ownership of designs end-to-end: specification, implementation, verification, and production deployment.
  • Improve and maintain build, simulation, and verification infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and execute hardware deployments in live production environments.
  • Collaborate with software, systems, and operations teams to integrate and validate hardware components.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • 2+ years professional FPGA or ASIC engineering experience (practical experience requirement retained here; degree information is in Education Requirements).
  • Strong RTL design and verification skills (SystemVerilog or VHDL; experience with cocotb or similar testbench frameworks).
  • Familiarity with FPGA/IC design flows and vendor toolchains (examples: Xilinx/AMD toolchains, Synopsys, Cadence).
  • Working knowledge of high-speed interfaces such as Ethernet (MAC/PHY), PCIe, and AXI.

Nice-to-have / preferred skills.

  • Programming experience in Python, C++, or similar languages for tooling and test automation.
  • Back-end physical design experience.
  • Understanding of network protocols and packet processing (TCP/UDP, IP multicast) and hardware protocol offloading.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is expected. An advanced degree may substitute for some professional FPGA/ASIC experience. No specific certifications are required; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
