Hardware Engineer — Design (WLAN)
QualcommJob Title
Hardware Engineer — Design (WLAN)
Role Summary
Work on planning, designing, optimizing, verifying and testing electronic hardware for WLAN products. The role focuses on circuit and system bring-up, characterization, test and yield improvement within a cross-functional hardware engineering team.
Collaborate with design, verification, validation, software and manufacturing teams to meet product performance, quality and schedule targets.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical guidance from the posting: experienced engineers (baseline examples indicate ~6+ years with a Bachelor's, or equivalent).
Responsibilities
Deliver technical leadership on complex hardware projects and enable product bring-up and manufacturing readiness.
- Plan, design, optimize, verify and test electronic systems including digital/analog/RF, FPGA and DSP subsystems.
- Perform complex simulations and analyses to meet power, performance and area targets.
- Lead or participate in implementation of advanced design rules and hardware processes.
- Evaluate, characterize and develop manufacturing and bring-up solutions to improve yield and quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate requirements and testing solutions into production programs.
- Document technical designs and review documentation prepared by junior engineers.
- Provide supervision, guidance and mentoring to other team members.
Requirements
Key technical skills and practical experience required or strongly preferred (degrees and fields are summarized separately in Education Requirements).
Must-have:
- Proven experience in hardware design, bring-up, verification and test for electronic systems.
- Circuit/logic design and validation experience (digital, analog or RF).
- Experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools.
- Hands-on use of hardware measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF test equipment).
- Ability to run complex simulations, analyze results, and implement design tradeoffs for power, performance and area.
- Strong written and verbal technical communication; ability to produce and review detailed documentation.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with advanced process nodes, manufacturing characterization and yield improvement techniques.
- Experience with FPGA, DSP systems, automation of test/measurement, or test system development.
- Prior technical leadership or mentorship experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or a related technical field — or equivalent practical experience. The posting specifies degree-to-experience mappings (example: Bachelor's + ~6+ years, Master's + ~5+ years, PhD + ~4+ years) and accepts equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.
