Job Title
Hardware Engineer, AI Accelerator Module Validation
Role Summary
The HDRTP team designs and validates hardware modules and platforms for Meta's AI and HPC infrastructure. This role owns module-specific validation test plans and execution, ensuring modules meet quality, reliability, and performance requirements prior to mass production.
The engineer works cross-functionally with electrical, power, mechanical, thermal, firmware, supply chain teams and ODM partners to define and execute validation across EVT, DVT, PVT, and manufacturing stages.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting specifies 8+ years of experience in hardware validation, test engineering, or product qualification and 4+ years developing and executing validation test plans.
Responsibilities
The core responsibilities focus on planning, executing, and improving module validation across electrical, thermal, signal integrity, and power domains.
- Own and drive module-specific validation test plans across EVT, DVT, PVT, and MP stages.
- Execute and oversee electrical, thermal, signal integrity, and power delivery validation testing for server and AI/HPC modules.
- Develop, document, and maintain validation procedures, specifications, and acceptance criteria.
- Evaluate ODM/JDM partner test plans and results to ensure they meet Meta quality and reliability standards.
- Perform root cause and failure analysis on test escapes and field returns; drive corrective actions to closure.
- Manage test equipment, lab resources, and contingent workers to meet testing milestones.
- Collaborate with Mechanical, Thermal, Firmware, Supply Chain, Data Center Site Operations, and NPI teams to ensure product readiness.
- Define and track validation metrics and KPIs; provide status, risk assessments, and program updates to leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement of test infrastructure, automation, and lab capabilities for scale across parallel programs.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and skills required for this role (degrees are summarized in Education Requirements below).
-
Must-have: 8+ years in hardware validation, test engineering, or product qualification for server, networking, or HPC products.
-
Must-have: 4+ years developing and executing validation test plans covering electrical, thermal, and mechanical domains.
-
Must-have: Knowledge of server module architectures including memory (DDR4/DDR5/HBM), high-speed I/O (PCIe, CXL, NVLink), and power delivery systems.
-
Must-have: 4+ years using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, thermal chambers, and data acquisition systems.
-
Must-have: Demonstrated expertise in root cause analysis and driving cross-functional corrective actions.
-
Must-have: Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent validation programs.
-
Must-have: Ability to communicate technical findings clearly in writing and verbally to engineering and non-engineering audiences.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience working with ODM/JDM manufacturing partners in Asia (e.g., Quanta, Foxconn, Wistron).
-
Nice-to-have: Familiarity with JEDEC, OCP, and Intel/AMD platform validation methodologies.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with ESS, HALT/HASS, accelerated life testing, and signal/power integrity validation (eye diagrams, jitter, PDN impedance).
-
Nice-to-have: Proficiency in scripting/automation (Python, Bash) for test automation and data analysis.
-
Nice-to-have: ASIC/accelerator module validation experience (GPU, TPU, or custom AI accelerators) and statistical test data analysis (Cpk, GR&R, Weibull).
-
Nice-to-have: Prior experience scaling validation processes from prototype to high-volume manufacturing.
Education Requirements
Minimum: BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline is specified. MS in Electrical Engineering or related field is listed as preferred. (Source lists degrees and related technical fields explicitly.)
