Job Title

Hardware Engineer, Accelerator Design

Role Summary

Work on custom AI accelerator hardware for Meta's data centers, focusing on electrical and board-level design to deliver production-ready accelerator systems. The role spans PCB review, power delivery, signal integrity, hardware bring-up, and cross-functional collaboration with silicon, firmware, thermal, and manufacturing teams.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early-career β€” typically requires 2+ years of relevant electrical or hardware engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, validation, and qualification of accelerator electrical subsystems and supporting bring-up and field validation.

  • Design and validate electrical systems for AI accelerator hardware: PCB review, power delivery network analysis, and signal integrity assessment.
  • Develop and execute hardware bring-up plans for accelerator boards and system-level platforms in data center environments.
  • Collaborate with silicon, firmware, and thermal teams to define electrical requirements and resolve cross-domain constraints.
  • Perform pre- and post-silicon electrical characterization: power rail measurements, eye diagram analysis, and high-speed SerDes validation.
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics and design documentation for accelerator subsystems.
  • Support design-for-manufacturability reviews and work with contract manufacturers to resolve electrical yield and reliability issues.
  • Analyze failure modes and conduct root-cause investigations for electrical faults found during validation or deployment.
  • Define electrical test strategies and automated test equipment setups for hardware qualification.
  • Engage with component vendors to evaluate and qualify power management ICs, connectors, and high-speed interconnects.

Requirements

Clear division of must-have technical experience and preferred skills.

  • Must-have: 2+ years of experience in electrical or hardware engineering focused on high-performance compute, accelerator, or data center hardware design.
  • 2+ years experience with PCB schematic capture, layout review, and signal integrity analysis for high-speed digital interfaces (examples: PCIe, DDR, HBM, SerDes links).
  • 2+ years experience with power delivery network design and analysis, including decoupling strategy, voltage regulator selection, and power integrity simulation.
  • Experience with hardware bring-up, electrical characterization, and debugging using lab instruments (oscilloscopes, network analyzers, power analyzers).
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to hardware reliability and qualification standards (JEDEC, IPC), experience with SPICE/HyperLynx/Ansys SIwave, custom ASIC or GPU accelerator board design, and thermal-electrical co-design for high-TDP systems.

Education Requirements

BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.
