Hardware DevOps/AI Engineer — Fall 2026 Internship

Role Summary

Internship role within Intel's Silicon and Platform Engineering Group (SPE). Work on hardware-related DevOps and AI-assisted software workflows to support IP block design, tool flows, and developer productivity.

The position involves hands-on project work, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and learning opportunities to develop practical engineering skills.

Experience Level

Entry-level (internship). Intended for students or recent graduates; typically 0–3 years of professional experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities during the internship will include:

  • Participate in hands-on projects aligned with Intel's engineering objectives.
  • Support IP block design activities by developing and maintaining flows, tools, and methodologies.
  • Implement and validate automation, CI/CD workflows, and developer tooling improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software and hardware workflows.
  • Apply technical knowledge to solve real-world problems and document results.
  • Engage in professional development and review of AI-generated code and outputs before use.

Requirements

Must-have skills and tools (minimum qualification items):

  • Comfortable writing Python (data types, control flow, functions, object-oriented programming).
  • Working knowledge of Git and CI/CD workflows (e.g., GitHub Actions).
  • Basic knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL or SQLite) and SQL.
  • Experience using at least one AI coding tool (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) and ability to evaluate its output.

Nice-to-have / preferred:

  • Experience with Django REST Framework (serializers, view sets, token-authenticated APIs).
  • Ability to build and style basic web pages using HTML and CSS; familiarity with Tailwind CSS and Alpine.js.
  • Exposure to OAuth2 or SSO authentication flows and REST API consumption (authentication, pagination, JSON handling).
  • Exposure to PostgreSQL tuning concepts (indexes, joins, migrations).
  • Familiarity with task tracking tools (Jira, GitHub Issues) and agentic AI coding tools or prompt engineering.

Education Requirements

Enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Qualifications may also be met through a combination of relevant internships, coursework, research, or equivalent practical experience.
