Job Title

Hardware Design for Test (DFT) Intern (2027)

Role Summary

Full-time, 12-week hardware DFT internship supporting NVIDIA hardware teams. Interns design, implement, and validate test architectures and DFT features that enable silicon verification and production test.

Work includes measurable project deliverables related to scan/ATPG, memory and logic BIST, compression, timing and debug using industry EDA tools and scripting. Hourly rate: $20–$71 USD; interns are eligible for intern benefits.

Experience Level

Internship — intended for Master's or Ph.D. students. Full-time, 12-week summer internship.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement DFT architectures (scan chains, compression, BIST).
  • Develop and run ATPG, boundary scan, JTAG tests and at-speed testing validation.
  • Perform static timing analysis and pre‑/post‑silicon issue debug.
  • Develop scripts and small tools to automate EDA flows and test flows.
  • Collaborate with hardware, validation, and cross‑functional teams to deliver testable silicon.

Requirements

Essential technical skills and experience:

  • Course or project experience in DFT, digital design, test architecture, STA, or silicon debug.
  • Experience with scan chain design, ATPG, memory BIST, logic BIST, or compression techniques.
  • Familiarity with scripting/programming such as Perl, TCL, C, C++, or Python.
  • Familiarity with Linux and common EDA tool usage (examples: Synopsys, Cadence tools).
  • Ability to work full-time for the 12-week internship period and deliver project results.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Education Requirements

Must be actively enrolled in and pursuing an M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field for the full duration of the internship. Anticipated graduation month and year must be indicated on resume/CV.
