Job Title

Hardware (CPU, GPU, SoC, Digital Design, DV) Engineering Internship – Summer 2027

Role Summary

Qualcomm is hiring summer interns to join multi-disciplinary hardware engineering teams (System, Front-end Design, Implementation, DFT, Physical Design, Pre-silicon Verification, Emulation, Post-silicon Validation, CAD, and GPU Design). Interns will contribute to design, verification, modeling, validation, and performance/power analysis tasks on SoC and GPU/CPU projects.

This internship places students on project teams aligned to one of several technical tracks (GPU, CPU, Digital Design/DV, SoC Systems) and pairs each intern with a mentor and manager for the internship duration.

Experience Level

Entry-level intern. Candidates must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and have at least 1 year of relevant academic experience with programming or hardware description languages.

Responsibilities

Intern responsibilities depend on the assigned technical track; typical tasks include:

  • Implement and verify RTL or testbench components; develop verification components and regression tests.
  • Contribute to system- or IP-level modeling, simulation, and performance/power analysis.
  • Develop and execute verification and validation plans, debug regressions, and support bring-up activities.
  • Support synthesis, timing closure, place-and-route flows, or DFT implementation depending on team needs.
  • Work with emulation and post-silicon validation teams to profile silicon and validate designs.
  • Collaborate with mentors and cross-functional engineers; document results and present findings.
  • Indicate preferred technical track(s) (GPU, CPU, Digital Design/DV, SoC Systems) on your resume to communicate placement preferences.

Requirements

Minimum technical and logistical requirements for internship consideration:

  • Availability for an 11–14 week internship during Summer 2027 (May–September).
  • At least 1 year of academic experience with one or more of: C, C++, Python, Perl, Verilog, SystemVerilog.
  • Familiarity with verification tools and methodologies, simulators, coverage tools, or waveform viewers is beneficial for verification tracks.
  • Exposure to hardware concepts such as digital design, computer architecture, power/thermal considerations, or embedded software is helpful depending on track.
  • Strong debugging, scripting, and teamwork skills; ability to learn project-specific flows and tools quickly.
  • Preferred: experience with UVM, RTL development, modeling or GPU/graphics pipelines for relevant tracks.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. program in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Expected graduation of November 2027 or later; preferred candidates anticipate graduation between November 2027 and June 2028. Enrollment in a Master's or Ph.D. program is noted as preferred for some tracks.
