Hardware Application Engineer
Role Summary
Provide hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, and infrastructure stability for ZeBu emulation and HAPS prototyping platforms used by Synopsys customers. Work remotely with global teams and coordinate field escalations, deployments, and ongoing platform reliability efforts.
Experience Level
Entry-level - under 2 years of hands-on experience in hardware bring-up, system troubleshooting, or platform support.
Responsibilities
Perform hardware support and maintenance for emulation and prototyping systems and ensure uptime for customer verification environments.
- Serve as primary technical resource for hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, and infrastructure stability for ZeBu and HAPS systems at customer sites and data centers.
- Diagnose and isolate hardware-level failures (cabling, power, firmware, configuration, diagnostics) and distinguish them from customer design or software issues.
- Run proactive diagnostics, track downtime patterns, and schedule firmware/software upgrades to reduce incidents.
- Coordinate with Synopsys hardware R&D to escalate complex issues, provide field data, and validate fixes in real deployments.
- Maintain clear incident documentation, system configurations, and knowledge-base entries to support continuous improvement.
- Travel locally to customer sites or data centers during critical escalations and installations (up to 25% of the time).
- Communicate status, timelines, and technical tradeoffs to customers, field engineers, and internal stakeholders during incidents.

- Under 2 years of hands-on experience with hardware bring-up, system troubleshooting, or platform support.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to isolate hardware issues from software or design problems in complex systems.
- Comfort working with physical hardware: cabling, power systems, firmware updates, and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to coordinate across teams, document technical issues clearly, and communicate during live incidents.
- Willingness to work remotely and travel locally to customer sites during escalations and installations (up to 25%).
- Willingness to learn ZeBu emulation and HAPS prototyping platforms through hands-on training.
Nice-to-have
- Prior field support or data-center hardware experience.
- Direct experience with ZeBu or HAPS platforms.
