Graphics System/Silicon Validation Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Graphics System/Silicon Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Graphics Post-silicon team to validate and debug GPU silicon on system-level platforms. The role focuses on functional verification, high-volume test screening, power/performance correlation, and cross-functional collaboration to enable commercialization of next-generation GPU chips.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The team prefers candidates with several years of silicon validation experience; specific minimums depend on degree level (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include system and silicon validation, debug, and test development for GPU subsystems.
- Perform functional verification and validation of GPU on emulation platforms and silicon.
- Lead chip bring-up, root-cause analysis and debug of hardware/software failures across teams (design, DV, software, production test, customers).
- Develop and maintain high-volume test screening solutions and automated test flows.
- Collect and correlate power, performance and thermal measurements on silicon.
- Use lab equipment (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes) and debug platforms (e.g., Lauterbach Trace32) during validation and debug.
- Work with device drivers and low-level software during bring-up and troubleshooting.
- Document findings, communicate status, and deliver timely solutions to meet deadlines.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.
- Strong C/C++ programming skills; experience with low-level software and driver programming.
- Proficient scripting for data analysis and test automation (Perl, Python).
- Familiarity with ARM CPU architecture, AHB/AXI protocols, and GPU architecture concepts.
- Experience with VLSI design/test methodologies and mixed-signal IP validation and debug.
- Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes) and trace/debug tools (Lauterbach Trace32).
- Familiarity with ARM Coresight IP, DFT/DFD concepts, and RMA processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 3+ years; OR PhD in those fields with 2+ years. Equivalent practical experience may be acceptable per the listed minimum qualifications.
