Graphics FE Implementation Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for front-end implementation of GPU IP: synthesis, analysis, and optimization to meet timing, power, and area targets. Member of the GPU FE Implementation team; works closely with RTL, physical design (PD), STA, and DFT teams to enable successful first silicon.
Experience Level
Senior — requires approximately 10+ years of relevant ASIC/RTL synthesis and implementation experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform block-level synthesis and optimize designs for area, timing, and power.
- Analyze RTL and netlists to identify and resolve PPA issues.
- Debug complex logic-equivalence issues and perform gate-level netlist checks to validate functionality and netlist quality.
- Implement ECOs to correct functionality and meet timing closure.
- Collaborate with RTL, PD, STA, and DFT teams throughout the implementation flow toward first silicon.
- Develop and maintain scripting and automation for ASIC flows.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Proven track record driving block-level synthesis and optimizations.
- Hands-on experience improving RTL for optimal area, timing, and power.
- Experience debugging logic equivalence and performing netlist quality checks.
- Experience implementing ECOs for functionality and timing fixes.
- Knowledge of reset domains, multi-clock domain design, and multi-power-domain flows (e.g., UPF).
- Familiarity with linting tools across RTL and gate-level.
- Scripting experience in Python, Tcl, or Perl and general data-manipulation skills in ASIC flows.
- Experience collaborating with STA and DFT teams to achieve tapeout objectives.
Nice-to-have:
- Direct GPU or graphics-IP implementation experience.
- Experience with place-and-route (PNR) tuning techniques.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree (BS) and approximately 10 years of relevant industry experience.
