Graduate Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Entry-level verification engineer joining a CPU/IP team in Sophia Antipolis to validate processor micro-architecture and ensure correct functional behaviour across corner cases. The role focuses on test planning, testbench development, and execution to find and close design defects.

Experience Level

Entry-level — Graduate program (recent graduates or candidates on track to graduate).

Responsibilities

The engineer will work within a verification team to drive verification activities and sign-off criteria.

  • Understand CPU micro-architecture and identify verification boundaries.
  • Define test plans and verification sign-off criteria.
  • Design, build, and maintain testbenches using an appropriate methodology and languages.
  • Develop and run directed and stress tests to exercise corner cases and expose defects.
  • Collaborate with cross-site and multi-disciplinary teams to diagnose and resolve issues.

Requirements

Core technical skills and interpersonal abilities required for the role.

Must-have:

  • Understanding of hardware design and verification fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of hardware description and verification languages (e.g. Verilog, VHDL, SystemVerilog, PSL).
  • Proficiency in algorithms and software programming.
  • Proficiency in scripting (e.g. Python, Perl, TCL).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and tackle varied technical challenges.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with formal verification tools and methods.
  • Familiarity with end-to-end verification processes, RTL, and simulators.
  • Familiarity with ARM architectures and instruction sets.
  • Experience in Unix development environments.

Education Requirements

Candidates must hold, or be on track to hold by the programme start date, a university or engineering school degree — typically a Master’s or PhD in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science. Alternative degrees will be considered if supported by relevant experience; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
