Graduate Trainee - Systems Design Engineer

Role Summary

As a graduate trainee on the AMD Graphics Platform Validation team you will validate graphics platforms during post-silicon phases, collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to triage and debug system-level issues, and drive validation deliverables to meet platform milestones.

Work includes developing validation strategies and test plans, executing integration tests, and supporting GPU bring-up and problem resolution.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Develop validation strategies and test plans for reference and customer platform designs.
  • Create test procedures and technical documentation.
  • Execute post-silicon integration validation and track/report status.
  • Triage and debug system-level issues with firmware, software, diagnostics and board design teams; perform root cause analysis.
  • Support new GPU product bring-up and resolve hardware/software integration problems.
  • Lead technical discussions with cross-functional teams and communicate findings.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred qualifications:

  • Must-have: Strong communication skills (written and oral) and ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Must-have: Experience or demonstrable ability in system-level debugging and triage across hardware and software domains.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of PC hardware components (CPU, GPU/chipset, I/O) and PC architecture; familiarity with BIOS, drivers and operating systems.
  • Nice-to-have: Technical experience in electrical hardware design, ASIC platform test and debug, defect tracking and revision control tools.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior graphics platform or GPU experience is a plus.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering (EE) or a related engineering field.
