Graduate Trainee - Silicon Design Engineer
Role Summary
Develop memory controller (UMC) firmware within the RTG IP design team for AI, machine learning, supercomputing, and data-center graphics accelerator products. Collaborate with RTL/DV, emulation, platform, and software teams to enable, validate, and debug IP features through simulation and silicon bring-up.
Experience Level
Entry-level — Graduate trainee. Intended for recent graduates or candidates with internship experience (approximately 0–3 years).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on UMC firmware development, verification, and cross-functional issue resolution.
- Develop UMC firmware following IP development flow, including simulation and emulation environments.
- Enable and verify UMC IP features in simulation and in silicon.
- Debug UMC IP issues found in simulation, emulation, and silicon and drive them to closure.
- Work closely with RTL design, DV, emulation, platform, and software teams to integrate and validate firmware.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred skills relevant to the role.
- Strong computing fundamentals, debugging ability, and clear communication; able to work independently and in a team. (Must)
- Firmware or low-level software development experience or interest. (Preferred)
- Verilog knowledge. (Preferred)
- Software programming skills (e.g., C/C++ or scripting). (Preferred)
- Internship experience at a semiconductor or computing-related company. (Preferred)
- Familiarity with one of: CPU architectures (x86, ARM, MIPS) or ASIC design flow. (Preferred)
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required as a baseline. Relevant majors: Micro-electrics, Computer Science and Technology, Telecommunications, or Software Engineering.
