Graduate Trainee Engineer (Aprisa PnR)

Role Summary

Junior software developer role within the Siemens EDA Aprisa R&D team in Taipei focused on physical design (place-and-route) tool development and support. You will work on feature implementation, algorithm development, and debugging under the guidance of senior engineers and the development manager.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Graduate trainee. Typical experience: 1–3 years in P&R EDA tool development or related software engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include hands-on development, debugging, and collaboration to deliver P&R features and maintain software quality.

  • Develop and maintain P&R EDA tool code, primarily in C/C++.
  • Implement and optimize algorithms related to routing, graph theory, and geometry processing.
  • Debug, profile, and test large-scale software components on Linux.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members, participate in code reviews, and report progress to the development manager.
  • Prioritize and track assigned project tasks to meet delivery and training objectives.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience are listed below; preferred items are noted separately.

  • 1–3 years of experience in place-and-route (P&R) EDA tool development, preferably routing.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and strong debugging skills.
  • Strong background in algorithm development, graph theory, and geometry manipulation.
  • Experience with Linux development and shell scripting.
  • Good communication skills in English and Mandarin.
  • Nice-to-have: familiarity with machine learning techniques, experience with Tcl/Perl/Python, and multithreaded implementations.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
