Graduate Talent (Physical Design Engineer)
Role Summary
Join the Foundry Technology Development Design Technology Platform team to perform Physical Design and Foundation IP integration QA. The role implements reference designs from RTL to GDS, runs IP-level QA flows, and helps define and automate quality checks to ensure IP meets production standards.
Experience Level
Entry-level (Graduate). Role is intended for recent graduates or engineers with limited professional experience (approximately 0–3 years).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include implementing and validating foundational IP, automating flows, and collaborating with internal teams and vendors.
- Implement reference designs from RTL through layout (GDS) and perform SoC physical design flow tasks.
- Develop and run IP integration QA and testchip flows to verify Foundation IP quality.
- Create scripting and automation for physical design and debug flows.
- Develop new IP-level quality checks and maintain QA flow coverage.
- Work with EDA tool vendors and internal IP teams to debug issues and refine flows.
- Apply data analytics and AI/ML techniques to optimize execution, coverage, and quality.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, practical abilities, and behavioral traits expected for the role.
- Practical knowledge of the RTL-to-GDS physical design flow and IP integration practices.
- Experience or coursework in scripting and automation for design flows (e.g., flow scripting, CI for EDA flows).
- Familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools and debug practices.
- Ability to develop and implement QA checks and improve quality metrics.
- Good written, verbal, and presentation communication skills; effective team player.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, organized and able to prioritize tasks.
- Nice-to-have: experience applying data analytics or ML to design/verification data and prior exposure to testchip or IP development.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Engineering or Master of Science in Electronic, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
