Graduate Talent (Core Design Verification Engineer)

Role Summary

As a Core Design Verification Engineer you will develop and execute verification plans, build and optimize test benches, run system simulations, and debug pre-silicon CPU designs to ensure correctness and reliability.

You will join Intel's CPU Technology team in Penang and work with architects and RTL developers to validate microarchitectural features and improve verification methodologies.

Experience Level

Entry-level. Suitable for recent bachelor's or master's graduates; typically 0–2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute IP verification plans aligned with CPU microarchitecture specifications.
  • Create and optimize test benches and verification environments (UVM/SystemVerilog).
  • Define and run system simulation models to uncover functional bugs and validate designs.
  • Debug issues in pre-silicon environments, perform root-cause analysis, and implement fixes.
  • Collaborate with CPU architects and RTL developers to verify complex architectural features.
  • Document test plans and present findings in technical reviews with cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain and improve functional verification methodologies and tools.

Requirements

Key must-have and nice-to-have qualifications.

  • Must-have: Foundational knowledge of CPU architecture and computer systems.
  • Must-have: Proficiency in SystemVerilog and UVM.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or Perl.
  • Must-have: Experience using industry-standard verification tools and methodologies.
  • Nice-to-have: Strong analytical and debugging skills and a creative approach to problem solving.
  • Nice-to-have: Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Self-motivated and adaptable in fast-paced environments.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Skills may be demonstrated via academic projects, internships, coursework, or training.
