Job Title

Graduate Engineer, System Performance Team

Role Summary

Join Arm's System Performance Team to analyse and optimise system performance across Arm products from data centres to IoT using a hardware-software co-design approach. The team evaluates emerging technologies, models software-hardware stacks, and delivers actionable recommendations to product and design teams.

Main responsibilities include performance analysis, system modelling, running experiments, and communicating findings to cross-functional stakeholders.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Graduate). Candidates should be on track to or already hold a university degree; no specific prior years of professional experience are required.

Responsibilities

The role will involve practical system-performance work and collaboration across teams. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Analyse how Arm-based systems run applications and workloads across AI/ML, computer vision, media, gaming and productivity domains.
  • Abstract and model the full software-hardware stack in the team's system-modelling framework.
  • Design, run and iterate experiments; interpret results and refine the modelling/measurement approach.
  • Produce clear, evidence-based recommendations for improving performance and efficiency consumed by design teams.
  • Develop and maintain scripts, automation, and reproducible performance measurement workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical findings effectively.

Requirements

Listed below are concise must-have and nice-to-have skills and attributes for the role.

  • Must-have: Good understanding of computer and system architecture and software stacks.
  • Must-have: Experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python), shell scripting (e.g. bash), and a procedural language (e.g. C or C++).
  • Must-have: Analytical problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively with other teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to software and hardware performance analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with version control systems (e.g. git, svn).

Education Requirements

Hold, or be on track to hold, a university degree by the programme start date: Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in a STEM subject. Candidates with other degrees will be considered if they have relevant experience; equivalent practical experience is acceptable. (Degree requirement was extracted from the posting and has been placed here.)
