Graduate Engineer — FPGA HPS USB Post-Silicon Validation

Role Summary

Join the Silicon Validation team to validate HPS USB subsystems on FPGA SoC devices. The role involves silicon bring-up, executing validation tests, debugging hardware/software interactions, and developing test automation in a lab environment.

Work closely with firmware, design, software, and platform teams to reproduce and resolve issues and to improve validation processes and infrastructure.

Experience Level

Entry-level — suitable for recent graduates or candidates with minimal professional experience interested in hardware validation and embedded systems.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include hands-on validation, debugging, and automation to ensure USB subsystem functionality and interoperability.

  • Support execution of HPS USB validation test plans for Host, Device, and OTG functionality.
  • Perform silicon bring-up and basic hardware debugging on development platforms.
  • Execute manual and automated test cases to validate functionality, performance, and interoperability.
  • Collect, analyze, and document test results and debug findings; maintain validation documentation and regression reports.
  • Help reproduce, isolate, and track hardware and software issues discovered during validation.
  • Develop and enhance test automation using Python, TCL, or similar scripting languages.
  • Use USB protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other lab equipment to investigate system behavior.
  • Support validation of HPS boot flows, peripheral connectivity, and hardware–software interactions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of validation methodologies and automation infrastructure.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes for day-to-day work.

  • Basic programming skills in Python, C/C++, TCL, or other scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with Linux and command-line environments.
  • Practical debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills for hardware/software issues.
  • Experience or comfort working in a hands-on lab environment with test equipment.
  • Good written and verbal communication; ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and follow validation processes.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
