Role Summary

Join the Systems Performance Analysis team within Central Technology to evaluate pre-silicon SoC performance and influence CPU, GPU and interconnect design. The role focuses on running experiments with mobile-phone use-cases, identifying bottlenecks and recommending improvements across hardware and software stacks.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities are hands-on performance analysis and cross-team collaboration:

  • Design and run experiments on pre-silicon SoC environments to measure system performance.
  • Analyse performance of CPU, GPU and interconnect components using mobile-like workloads.
  • Bring up and validate use-cases on prototype systems and interpret their behaviour.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and propose practical solutions to engineers and partners.
  • Communicate results clearly and share findings with internal teams and stakeholders.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional behaviours; followed by optional skills.

  • Must-have: detailed understanding of computer architecture.
  • Must-have: programming experience in Python or Ruby; experience with C or C++ and assembly (Arm assembly preferred).
  • Must-have: strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work effectively in teams and across sites.
  • Must-have: proactive, motivated, and willing to learn about new systems and tools.
  • Nice-to-have: Unix, scripting and source control (e.g., Git, Subversion).
  • Nice-to-have: familiarity with CPU instruction sets, SystemVerilog, ARM architectures, compilers and device drivers.
  • Nice-to-have: demonstrated lateral thinking and problem-solving skills.
