Job Title

GPU Software Performance Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the GPU Software Performance team working on performance optimization of 3D games and applications for Intel GPUs. The role focuses on driver and shader-compiler related work, performance analysis, and cross-team collaboration to improve graphics performance on Linux platforms.

The engineer will design, implement, and validate software across user-mode drivers, shader compiler components, and application-level solutions while supporting profiling and debugging infrastructure.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Hiring guidance: typically 3+ years professional experience with a relevant university degree, or 5+ years of industry experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, and validate GPU software components across user-mode drivers, shader compiler, and application-level solutions.
  • Implement and optimize 3D graphics driver features for graphics APIs such as DirectX, Vulkan, or OpenGL.
  • Analyze hardware and software performance and implement driver-level optimizations to improve gaming and application performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-geo teams including software development, performance analysis, and hardware architecture groups.
  • Engage with game and application developers to recommend performance improvements and provide technical feedback.
  • Develop and maintain internal tools and infrastructure for profiling, debugging, and optimization.
  • Continuously update drivers to address new game titles, OS updates, and evolving user requirements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Proficiency in C++ and strong understanding of object-oriented design.
  • Experience with at least one modern 3D graphics API (DirectX, Vulkan, or OpenGL).
  • In-depth knowledge of the 3D graphics pipeline, rendering techniques, and GPU architecture.
  • Practical experience in software debugging and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with revision control tools and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Fluency in English.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience developing 3D graphics drivers or game engines.
  • Experience with GPU driver development on Linux.
  • Familiarity with shader compiler development and optimization.
  • Prior experience in the gaming industry or with 3D rendering applications.

Education Requirements

University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is listed in the posting; hiring guidance indicates either a relevant degree plus 3+ years of professional experience, or 5+ years of professional experience without a degree (equivalent practical experience accepted).

Additional notes: The role is eligible for a hybrid work model. Benefits and flexible working arrangements are offered.
