GPU IP Lead Emulation Model Build Engineer
Intel CorporationJob Title
GPU IP Lead Emulation Model Build Engineer
Role Summary
Lead and maintain the functional emulation model environment for GPU graphics and media IP, driving emulation-based verification, model optimization, and verification infrastructure. Work with verification teams and EDA vendors to deliver reliable pre-silicon models used for RTL verification, firmware-hardware co-verification, and performance validation.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires 8β15 years of hands-on experience in pre-silicon emulation model builds.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on building, validating, and optimizing emulation models and the surrounding verification infrastructure.
- Drive and build functional emulation model environments for 3D graphics and media IP.
- Maintain and improve verification infrastructure, methodologies, and related TFMs for design builds.
- Collaborate with EDA vendors to enhance emulation model builds and tool flows.
- Develop and run test plans and scenarios on emulation platforms to validate IPs and SoCs.
- Analyze emulation model performance and implement size-reduction techniques when RTL constructs inflate model size.
- Design and optimize test environments, stress stimuli, and trackers for validation and verification.
- Architect and implement IP test environments (checkers, monitors, test infrastructure, verification components) to meet IP/SoC requirements.
- Support handoff processes and validation flows used to transition IP into SoC integration.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Must-have: 8β15 years of hands-on experience in pre-silicon emulation model builds across vendor platforms.
- Must-have: Experience with emulators such as ZeBu, Palladium, Veloce or FPGA platforms and emulation suites (Maestro, Metro-Maestro, Supercollider).
- Must-have: Strong RTL verification skills and experience with Verdi, VCS, and UVM/OVM.
- Must-have: Proficiency in scripting (Python, Perl, or Ruby) and demonstrated debugging and technical analysis skills.
- Must-have: Solid knowledge of digital design fundamentals (combinational/sequential logic, FSMs, registers, counters).
- Must-have: Familiarity with validation processes including HSD-ES, DCCB (APM), and Gatekeeper management.
- Preferred: Experience using emulation for FW-HW co-verification and performance validation.
- Preferred: Understanding of media industry trends and technologies; strong communication and teamwork skills.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in a relevant field required, examples: Electronics, Computer Science, Embedded Systems. The role typically expects 8β15 years of hands-on pre-silicon emulation model build experience.
