Job Title

GPU Implementation Engineer (Austin & San Diego)

Role Summary

Work on Qualcomm's Adreno GPU team focused on power estimation, implementation, verification and minimization for GPU cores. Deliver methodology and flow improvements to optimize performance, power and area.

The role requires collaboration with cross-functional SoC teams to apply power-analysis flows, RTL/synthesis optimization, and power-intent verification methods.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical candidates have 4+ years of relevant GPU or ASIC experience. Minimum qualifications provide alternative experience ladders: Bachelor's +4 years, Master's +3 years, or PhD +2 years of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Perform power analysis and estimation across GPU designs and use cases.
  • Implement RTL- and synthesis-based power-optimization techniques.
  • Develop and maintain power methodology and flows for SOC-level implementation.
  • Analyze performance, power and thermal behavior and recommend optimizations.
  • Model and optimize performance, power and area trade-offs.
  • Work on power-intent implementation and verification (isolation, level shifters, retention).
  • Support semi-custom design flow and related implementation methodology.

Requirements

Key technical requirements and desirable skills.

  • Must-have: Strong understanding of ASIC design methodology on advanced process technology and practical experience with power analysis and estimation.
  • Experience with commercial power analysis flows (e.g., PowerArtist, PrimeTime PX).
  • Knowledge of power-minimization techniques such as clock gating, power gating, and multi-VT design.
  • Experience with power-intent design and verification for isolation, level shifters and retention strategies.
  • Familiarity with SystemVerilog RTL and RTL simulation.
  • Scripting and automation experience on Linux (TCL, Python or Perl).
  • Familiarity with synthesis, static timing analysis (STA) and formal verification flows.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.
  • Nice-to-have: GPU-specific implementation experience, thermal analysis experience, performance & power modeling, experience interacting with senior leadership.

Education Requirements

Qualifications reference academic degrees and acceptable experience: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field (with 4+ years relevant experience), or a Master's degree (with 3+ years relevant experience), or a PhD (with 2+ years relevant experience). Preferred qualifications mention Master's or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
