GPU DV Staff/Senior Staff Engineer
QualcommJob Title
GPU DV Staff/Senior Staff Engineer
Role Summary
This role is a hardware design verification engineer focused on GPU subsystem verification at Qualcomm. The engineer will develop subsystem-level testbenches, debug frameworks, automation, and verification infrastructure to qualify GPU workloads and benchmarks.
The position works with cross-functional hardware and software teams to deliver verification sign-off, manage regressions, and improve debug and coverage processes.
Experience Level
Senior-level (Staff / Senior Staff). Qualcomm lists minimum experience expectations as: 4+ years with a Bachelor's, 3+ years with a Master's, or 2+ years with a PhD (see Education Requirements for details).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include GPU verification at the subsystem level, automation, and debug tool development.
- Design and maintain subsystem-level testbenches for GPU workload compliance, benchmark qualification, and sign-off.
- Develop and maintain debug/checker frameworks (C-Model vs RTL) in C++.
- Create UVM/SystemVerilog constrained-random testbenches for functional verification.
- Implement scripting and automation (Perl/Python/shell) to manage regressions, optimize runtime, and drive CI workflows.
- Develop and deploy AI agents and frameworks to assist DV tasks such as regression management, debug automation, coverage analysis, and tracking.
- Perform bug triage and maintain verification databases and tracking systems.
- Collaborate with RTL, architecture, validation, and software teams to achieve verification and performance goals.
Requirements
Required technical skills and practical experience for the role.
Must-have:
- Proven experience in design verification for GPU or similar complex subsystems.
- Strong C++ development experience for verification/debug frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with UVM and SystemVerilog for constrained-random verification.
- Proficiency in scripting for automation (Python, Perl, shell) and experience building regression flows.
- Experience with regression management, runtime optimization, database-driven tracking, and bug triage.
- Experience developing tools or AI-assisted frameworks to improve DV productivity (regression, debug, coverage, tracking).
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with C-model vs RTL comparison flows and coverage-driven verification tooling.
- Experience with benchmark qualification and verification sign-off processes for performance workloads.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications listed by Qualcomm: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field with 4+ years of hardware engineering or related experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 3+ years of experience; OR PhD in those fields with 2+ years of experience. Equivalent practical experience is implicitly accepted by the degree+experience alternatives.
