GPU Design Verification Engineer, Staff
QualcommJob Title
GPU Design Verification Engineer, Staff
Role Summary
Designs, implements, and verifies GPU hardware and associated verification environments to ensure correctness and meet performance and power targets. Works across architecture, software, firmware, design, modeling, emulation and post-silicon teams to define and execute verification strategy for Graphics IP.
Experience Level
Senior. Typical guidance in the posting indicates 4+ years of relevant engineering experience (preferred 5+ years); specific degree-to-experience combinations are listed under Education Requirements.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecting and executing verification for GPU cores and system integration, developing testbench infrastructure, and analyzing results.
- Architect, design, implement, and verify GPU hardware, drivers, features, applications, and tools.
- Create and maintain verification testbenches and environments using SystemVerilog/UVM.
- Develop advanced test frameworks to reproduce real-world system and integration conditions.
- Plan and execute system-level test content: directed tests, gaming benchmarks, standards compliance suites, and system scenarios.
- Collaborate with Architecture, Software, Firmware, Design, Modeling, Emulation and Post-silicon teams to define test methodology and content.
- Participate in architecture and micro-architecture reviews and provide verification input.
- Build automation for continuous integration and testing tied to latest GPU IP.
- Collect and analyze test results using basic statistics to track benchmarks and identify issues.
- Document test plans, results, and feature descriptions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience necessary to perform the role; a short list of preferred skills follows.
- 4+ years of relevant engineering experience (preferred 5+ years); experience in software, hardware, or systems engineering.
- Verification skills: test planning, scripting, simulation, problem solving and debug.
- Proficiency with SystemVerilog and UVM; experience with Verilog or VHDL.
- Proficient in C/C++ for test and tool integration.
- Constrained-random verification and functional coverage development; design debug experience.
- Experience with emulation/prototyping platforms (e.g. Veloce, Palladium, Zebu, FPGA) and developing transactors/monitors for those platforms.
- Testbench architecture and implementation, plus automation/CI for verification flows.
- Scripting and automation (Python or similar) for test generation and result processing.
Nice-to-have:
- GPU verification or 2+ years of GPU-related experience.
- System/sub-system level verification, concurrency and stress testing frameworks.
- GFX API exposure (Vulkan, DirectX 11/12), benchmarking and performance analysis.
- Embedded firmware or kernel-level development and debugging (C/C++, Makefiles, gdb, U-Boot, UEFI, kernel drivers).
- Formal verification (FPV/DPV) and experience with hybrid/emulation build flows (Protium, HAPS, qemu).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field plus 4+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree in those fields plus 3+ years; OR PhD in those fields plus 2+ years. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of degree.
