Job Title

GPU Design Implementation Engineer

Role Summary

Work on Qualcomm's Adreno GPU team to implement and deliver GPU cores. The role focuses on front-end implementation, RTL synthesis, and collaborating with microarchitecture and physical-design teams to meet aggressive power, performance and area (PPA) targets.

This is a hands-on engineering role supporting tape-outs, developing/optimizing implementation methodologies, and resolving complex design and timing issues.

Experience Level

Mid-level - typically requires several years of front-end implementation and physical-design experience (see Education Requirements for degree and years guidance).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include executing front-end implementation tasks and supporting end-to-end GPU core delivery.

  • Perform RTL synthesis and integration for GPU blocks.
  • Use and validate front-end EDA flows (synthesis, formal, timing signoff).
  • Collaborate with microarchitecture, RTL, and physical-design teams to identify and remove performance and power bottlenecks.
  • Develop and deploy implementation methodologies and flows to improve PPA.
  • Support tape-outs and resolve netlist/timing/closure issues.
  • Debug complex functional, timing, and power issues; provide actionable fixes.
  • Automate and script flows for efficiency (tcl/perl/python).

Requirements

Technical must-haves and desirable skills. Degree requirements are summarized separately under Education Requirements.

  • Must-have: Proven experience with digital design, RTL synthesis, and industry-standard synthesis and place-and-route tools including signoff tools.
  • Must-have: Experience with front-end EDA tools such as Synopsys Next Generation tools, Conformal LEC, Synopsys Formality, and Synopsys PrimeTime.
  • Must-have: Strong understanding of CMOS circuit design and techniques to optimize power, performance, and area.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with tape-outs at sub-micron nodes (<10nm) and timing closure practices.
  • Must-have: Scripting skills (tcl, perl, or python) and strong debugging/analytical ability.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on physical-design/implementation experience and experience leading teams to hit aggressive PPA targets.
  • Nice-to-have: Working knowledge of advanced process nodes (5nm, 4nm and below; FINFETs/GAA) and graphics/GPU design experience.

Education Requirements

The posting specifies degree-and-experience combinations. Summarized findings: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (posting lists both 5+ and 6+ years of relevant experience in different sections); Master's degree in those fields (posting lists 4–5+ years); PhD in those fields (posting lists 4–5+ years). The posting accepts degree-plus-years combinations rather than an unconditional degree-only requirement.
