Role Summary
Senior individual contributor owning resolution of the most complex field and factory issues for Sculpta systems. Works across Field Service, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D to lead high-severity escalations, root-cause investigations, and reliability improvements that improve machine availability.
This role requires autonomy, hands-on troubleshooting, and data-driven engineering judgment on ambiguous, high-impact problems.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 8+ years in product support, systems engineering, or semiconductor capital equipment.
Responsibilities
Deliver technical leadership for field escalations, reliability, and customer support.
- Own and resolve L4 / high-severity system escalations end-to-end.
- Lead structured troubleshooting of electro-mechanical, vacuum, plasma, controls, and integration issues.
- Perform root cause analysis using logs, sensor data, failure analysis, and fleet-level metrics.
- Define and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA); validate fixes via lab testing and field verification.
- Provide on-site senior technical support during critical escalations and early product deployments.
- Support NPI and customer ramp with data-backed field feedback and continuous improvement programs.
- Author technical documentation and mentor junior GPS and Field Service engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and workplace commitments.
- 8+ years of experience in product support, systems engineering, or semiconductor capital equipment.
- Strong hands-on experience with complex electro-mechanical systems.
- Proven ability to analyze large datasets and apply data-driven problem solving (trend/Pareto/correlation analyses).
- Experience quantifying impacts with metrics such as machine availability, MTBI, and recurrence rate.
- Ability to operate independently on ambiguous, high-impact technical challenges and lead cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel approximately 20% and eligible for relocation.
- Preferred: experience with vacuum systems, plasma chambers, robotics, motion control, RF subsystems, FRACAS/DFMEA, and fleet analytics.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or a related Engineering discipline. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience; an advanced degree may reduce the required years of experience.
