FY27 Intern - MSIP Digital Design Verification Engineering Internship (Toronto, Canada; 16 months)

Role Summary

Internship on Qualcomm's Digital Verification team in Toronto focused on functional verification of semiconductor IP and SoC blocks. The intern will work on verification plans, testbench development and simulation to validate digital designs.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for students currently enrolled in a university engineering or computer science program.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Review design specifications and develop verification plans and testcases using SystemVerilog and UVM.
  • Debug simulation failures and collaborate with design and cross-functional teams to identify bugs and root causes.
  • Build and automate verification flows and test infrastructure.
  • Use AI-enabled tools and infrastructure to accelerate verification where applicable.
  • Own assigned projects or features from planning through delivery.
  • Collaborate across domains such as Systems, Analog, Physical Design, SoC, Firmware/Software, and Project Management.

Requirements

Must-have skills and attributes:

  • Familiarity with SystemVerilog and the UVM methodology for verification.
  • Proficiency with scripting or programming languages (Python, Perl, C/C++).
  • Comfortable in a Linux/Unix development environment.
  • Basic understanding of digital logic and the ASIC/IC design flow.
  • Ability to debug simulations, analyze failures, and produce clear reports.
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn in a team setting.

Nice-to-have:

  • Exposure to Verilog or VHDL and hands-on verification or design projects.
  • Portfolio of personal or academic projects demonstrating initiative and technical skill.
  • Experience with automation of verification infrastructure and AI-enabled development tools.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or related field). Expected graduation November 2028 or later. For 16-month internships: availability from May/June 2027 to August/September 2028 is required. Applicants should have at least one year of academic experience with programming languages such as C, C++, or Python (or equivalent practical experience).
