Role Summary
This is a 16-month engineering internship on Qualcomm's Digital Verification team in Toronto. The intern will support verification of semiconductor designs by developing test plans, writing tests, debugging simulations and improving verification infrastructure.
Experience Level
Internship / Entry-level. This role is intended for university students participating in a multi-month internship program.
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include working on verification tasks and verification infrastructure under mentorship.
- Review design specifications and develop verification plans.
- Write test cases using SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Run and debug simulation failures; diagnose and track bugs across teams.
- Build and automate verification flows and scripts to improve efficiency.
- Use AI-enabled tools and infrastructure to accelerate verification where applicable.
- Take ownership of assigned projects from planning through delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Systems, Analog, Physical Design, SoC, Firmware/Software, Project Management).

- Programming and scripting: Python; familiarity with Perl, C/C++ is desirable.
- Experience or exposure to hardware verification languages and methodologies: SystemVerilog, UVM; familiarity with Verilog or VHDL is a plus.
- Comfortable in Linux/Unix development environments.
- Basic understanding of digital logic and ASIC/IC design flow.
- Ability to debug simulations and collaborate with engineers to isolate root causes.
- Interest in automation and improving verification infrastructure (build/test flows).
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to plan and prioritize tasks.
- Self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn; a portfolio of relevant academic or personal projects is a plus.
Education Requirements
Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or a related field; expected graduation November 2028 or later. For 16-month internships, availability is required May/June 2027 through August/September 2028. At least 1+ years of academic experience with programming languages such as C, C++, or Python. Exposure to digital design/verification (Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL) is expected.
