FY27 Engineering Intern - 6 months (Cork, Ireland)

Role Summary

Intern positions on the Snapdragon Engineering teams in Cork supporting Digital, Analog and Embedded Software design and verification for mobile SoC IP. Work includes development and verification of IP related to encryption, power control, graphics, sensing, connectivity, debug and embedded software on advanced FinFET process nodes.

Interns collaborate with architecture, software, measurement and SoC teams and will perform hands-on tasks across design, verification, prototyping and validation flows.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship. Applicants must have completed their second year of a Bachelor’s degree; ideally in the second year of a Master’s program. Internships may commence as early as January 2027.

Responsibilities

Contribute to engineering tasks under supervision and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

• Participate in RTL design, analogue design tasks or embedded software development depending on assignment.
• Develop and run verification testbenches using industry methodologies.
• Create scripts and tooling to automate workflows and testing.
• Prototype and validate designs on FPGA platforms where applicable.
• Debug issues, analyze results and iterate on implementation under guidance.
• Document work, report progress and present results to team members.
• Collaborate with architects, software, measurement and SoC teams to integrate and validate IP.

Requirements

Key technical skills and attributes required for successful internship performance.

• Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
• Design, coding and scripting experience: Verilog or VHDL; C/C++; Python; Tcl/Perl/shell scripting.
• Verification methodology experience: SystemVerilog, OVM or UVM.
• Hands-on FPGA project experience.
• Knowledge of low-power design practices and analog integrated-circuit basics.
• Familiarity with wireless/wired communications, graphics/video multimedia topics, ARM processors or security algorithms.
• Good general computer skills (e.g., Windows, Office, Visio) and dedication to task completion.
• Nice-to-have: coursework or exposure to circuits and electronics, signals and systems, microelectronic devices, semiconductor devices, feedback systems, digital integrated circuits, DSP, low-power VLSI, semiconductor physics, or software programming. Prior work experience is not required.

Education Requirements

Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (must have completed second year of a Bachelor’s degree; ideally in second year of a Master’s). Coursework areas of interest include circuits, signals, microelectronic devices and circuits, semiconductor devices, feedback systems, digital ICs, DSP, low-power VLSI, semiconductor physics and software programming. Applications from candidates with equivalent practical experience will be considered.
