FY27 Engineering Intern — 6-month internship (Cork)

Role Summary

The SnapDragon Engineering team in Cork is seeking interns for Digital, Analog and Embedded Software Design & Verification teams. Interns will contribute to IP development for Snapdragon chipsets, working on CPU, AI, encryption, graphics, sensing and connectivity for advanced mobile SoCs manufactured on FinFET nodes.

Teams collaborate with architecture, software, measurement and SoC groups locally and globally; interns will gain hands-on ASIC/SoC design and verification experience.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship. Candidates must have completed at least the second year of a Bachelor’s degree; prior professional experience is not required.

Responsibilities

Interns will assist engineers on active projects and deliver defined tasks under supervision.

  • Implement and verify digital, analog or firmware designs and testbenches.
  • Develop and debug code or scripts in Verilog/VHDL, C/C++, Python, Tcl/Perl or shell as required.
  • Work on FPGA prototypes and lab measurements.
  • Collaborate with architecture, software, measurement and SoC teams across locations.
  • Use existing toolflows and participate in design reviews and validation activities.
  • Complete assigned tasks, document results and report progress.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional attributes for this internship.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with Verilog or VHDL and with C/C++ or Python.
  • Hands-on FPGA project experience or similar prototyping experience.
  • Familiarity with scripting (Tcl, Perl, shell) and standard engineering tools.
  • Good computing skills (Windows, Office, Visio or equivalents).
  • Willingness to learn, attention to detail and dedication to complete assigned tasks.
  • Nice-to-have: knowledge of low-power design, analog integrated circuits, wireless/wired protocols, graphics/multimedia, ARM processors or security algorithms.

Education Requirements

Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a closely related technical field; candidates must have completed the second year of a Bachelor’s degree and ideally be in the second year of a Master’s. Relevant coursework includes circuits and electronics, signals and systems, microelectronic devices and circuits, semiconductor devices, feedback systems, digital integrated circuits, digital signal processing, low-power VLSI and semiconductor physics. Applications from candidates with equivalent practical experience will be considered.
