FuSa Engineer (HW Safety Engineer)

Role Summary

As a Functional Safety (FuSa) Engineer within the Arm Solution Engineering Group you will support development, assessment and certification of Arm hardware solutions for safety-critical markets. You will work with engineering, product management and safety teams to define safety requirements, perform hazard and risk analyses, and validate safety features across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Support Arm automotive and industrial projects from early development through assessment and certification.
  • Identify potential failures, analyze risks, and define safety mitigations throughout the product lifecycle in accordance with relevant safety standards.
  • Contribute to safety management artifacts such as Safety Plans, Safety Cases, and derivation of safety requirements.
  • Perform safety analyses (DFMEA, DFA, FTA) to inform the safety architecture.
  • Work closely with design teams to implement safety features and validate their effectiveness, including RTL-level considerations and verification.
  • Help improve development processes to increase robustness and efficiency across hardware and software solutions.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Practical knowledge of functional safety, quality and cybersecurity standards (for example ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434, IEC 61508, ASPICE) applied to semiconductor lifecycles.
  • Experience with safety analysis techniques (FMEA, FTA, DFA), risk assessment, and system architecture analysis.
  • Familiarity with system design principles and interactions among components in complex systems.
  • Understanding of RTL and RTL verification methods and solid grasp of digital electronic design concepts.
  • Ability to manage safety-related activities within project timelines and budgets and to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred:

  • Experience on automotive projects and prior involvement in product assessment or certification activities.
