Job Title

Functional Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Perform functional verification of IP, blocks, or subsystems and contribute to SoC-level verification for Qualcomm hardware products. Work within the Hardware Engineering organization in Bangalore to design verification plans, implement verification environments, debug failures, and deliver validated RTL blocks.

Experience Level

Mid-level — 2–6 years of relevant functional verification experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Plan and execute functional verification for IP, block, or subsystem designs, including SoC-level verification where applicable.
  • Produce verification artifacts: test plans, test strategies, assertion lists, and related documentation.
  • Develop, own, and maintain verification environments and components (OVM/UVM-based).
  • Analyze and debug functional failures using simulation and waveform tools; isolate root causes.
  • Implement constrained-random tests, functional and code coverage, and assertions to validate design intent.

Requirements

Key technical requirements and preferred skills.

Must-have:

  • 2–6 years of hands-on functional verification experience at IP, block, or SoC level.
  • Strong knowledge of verification flow and challenges (constrained-random, functional coverage, code coverage, assertions).
  • Expert-level SystemVerilog and Verilog; OVM/UVM verification methodology experience.
  • Working experience with AMBA protocols (AXI, AHB, APB).
  • Hands-on experience with one or more peripheral protocols: UART, I2C, SPI, QSPI, I3C, eMMC, CAN.
  • Experience with digital simulation, debug, and industry-standard waveform viewers/tools.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Perl, Python or similar) for testbench automation and tooling.
  • Ability to learn quickly and take on responsibilities beyond the immediate task to meet team goals.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with additional interfaces such as PCIe, USB, DDR/LPDDR, Gigabit Ethernet, SATA.
  • Prior SoC-level integration or cross-block verification experience.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering field. Equivalent practical experience in functional verification may be considered.
