Functional Verification Applications Engineer
Role Summary
The Field Application Engineer (Level 3) provides pre-sales technical support and account-focused technical guidance to drive customer adoption and technical wins for Siemens EDA solutions. This role partners with sales, product, support, and services teams to scope evaluations, pilot projects, and deployments, and mentors junior Field AEs.
Experience Level
Mid-level; typically requires 3+ years of relevant experience in design and verification or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and customer-facing support across discovery, evaluation, and deployment phases.
- Act as trusted technical advisor to engineering and first-line management stakeholders.
- Lead technical discovery to assess customer requirements, design flows, and competitive challenges.
- Deliver technical presentations and demonstrations of Siemens EDA solutions and value propositions.
- Support evaluations, pilots, and solution positioning during sales campaigns.
- Collaborate with Sales, Product, Support, and Services to execute engagements.
- Contribute to methodologies and workflow improvements to drive product adoption.
- Provide input on solution configuration and licensing aligned to customer needs.
- Troubleshoot evaluation and deployment issues to promote customer satisfaction.
- Mentor and guide junior Field Application Engineers and share technical knowledge with the team.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and constraints; nice-to-have items listed separately.
- Strong understanding of design and verification concepts in ASIC and FPGA flows.
- Expert in advanced verification methodologies and environments.
- Expert coding skills in Verilog/VHDL/SystemVerilog; experience with UVM and PSL/SVA is mandatory.
- Proficiency with core EDA tools, verification IP, and common design environments.
- Experience with scripting, APIs, or tool extension to support customer workflows (preferred).
- Experience with Formal, Emulation, or Verification IP is a plus.
- Strong technical communication and presentation skills for engineering audiences.
- Awareness of competitive EDA environments and ability to position Siemens solutions.
- Position subject to U.S. export control (ITAR/EAR); US citizenship is required.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
