Functional Safety Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for developing and documenting functional safety concepts and requirements for IP cores used in automotive and aviation systems. Drive safety analyses and ensure IP architecture and development processes meet industry functional safety standards.
This is a hands-on, individual contributor role with direct customer interaction; the position is remote with preference for candidates in the US or Europe.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include defining safety requirements, performing analysis, and collaborating with customers and partners to deliver FuSa-compliant IP.
- Define and document safety concepts and requirements for functional-safety IP cores.
- Ensure designs and HW/SW development processes comply with ISO 26262 and DO-254.
- Perform quantitative and qualitative safety analyses (e.g., FMEA, FMEDA, FTA).
- Collaborate with customers, third-party vendors, or consultants to develop FuSa IP cores.
- Work with architects and RTL designers to guide safety-compliant digital design decisions.
- Prepare and present technical materials; proficiency with PowerPoint, Word, and Excel is required.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; a short list of desirable background is provided.

Must-have: Detailed knowledge of functional safety architectures, standards, and procedures such as ISO 26262 and/or DO-254.

Must-have: Experience executing safety analyses (FMEA, FMEDA, FTA) and applying results to design and requirements.

Must-have: Experience with architectural-through-RTL design for safety-compliant digital designs and familiarity with digital design and SoC concepts.

Must-have: Basic knowledge of the electrical IC design process and ability to discuss first-level technical aspects with engineers and management.

Nice-to-have: Background as a Field Applications Engineer or technical salesperson in electronic design; experience coordinating with third-party vendors or consultants.
Education Requirements
