Functional Safety Engineer

Role Summary

Deliver functional safety solutions for next-generation GPU products used in automotive, robotics and other safety‑critical applications. Work closely with architecture, hardware, verification and software teams to define safety concepts, produce safety analyses and develop safety work products across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and review functional safety work products in accordance with ISO 26262.
  • Create and maintain Safety Plans, Safety Cases and Safety Manuals.
  • Perform safety analyses such as FMEA, DFMEA, DFA, FTA and FMEDA.
  • Support hardware and software teams in deriving and implementing safety requirements.
  • Write, review and manage safety requirements through the development lifecycle.
  • Participate in functional safety audits, assessments and reviews.
  • Support tool qualification activities where required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of functional safety methodologies and processes.
  • Collaborate across multiple engineering teams to ensure safety objectives are met.

Requirements

Must-have:

  • Good understanding of computer architecture and modern SoC design principles.
  • Knowledge of functional safety concepts and standards, particularly ISO 26262.
  • Experience in RTL design of complex ASICs, IPs or SoCs.
  • Experience with safety analysis techniques (DFMEA, DFA, FTA, FMEDA).
  • Strong analytical, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with GPU, CPU or other complex processor architectures.
  • Familiarity with verification methodologies including SystemVerilog, UVM or formal verification.
  • Experience with industry-standard EDA tools (e.g. Cadence, Synopsys).
  • Knowledge of requirements management tools such as Jama or DRM.
  • Exposure to both hardware and software functional safety development.
  • Experience supporting external or internal safety assessments and audits.

  • No relocation package is available for this role.
