Front-end Design Architect
SynopsysJob Title
Front-end Design Architect
Role Summary
Lead architecture and delivery of front-end design methodologies and reference subsystem designs for Synopsys IP and mixed-signal portfolios. Drive practical, production-ready flows that reduce integration risk and accelerate customer time-to-market.
Work with global IP teams, EDA tool developers, and customer-facing engineers to deploy reusable methodologies and to apply agentic AI techniques where they provide measurable value.
Experience Level
Senior-level - 10 to 15 years of hands-on experience in IP or SoC design and verification is expected.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing, delivering, and operationalizing front-end flows and reference designs.
- Apply agentic AI techniques to accelerate front-end tasks (verification, synthesis, constraints, test insertion).
- Architect and deliver reference subsystem designs and templates for internal and customer use.
- Troubleshoot and optimize design flows across tools, scripts, and methodologies.
- Build, document, and maintain reusable methodologies that scale across global teams.
- Educate and mentor engineering teams via presentations, design reviews, and hands-on guidance.
- Collaborate with EDA tool teams and IP developers to align methodology with real-world design constraints.
- Drive adoption of best practices using Synopsys tools in production flows.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience; items listed as "Nice-to-have" are optional but preferred.
- Must-have: 10+ years delivering complex ASIC/IP projects with demonstrable end-to-end ownership of front-end flows.
- Must-have: Deep expertise in one or more front-end areas: verification, constraints & synthesis, DFT/test insertion, or lint/CDC.
- Must-have: Practical experience using Synopsys EDA tools in production (VCS, VC Spyglass, Design Compiler, Fusion Compiler, TestMAX).
- Must-have: Strong scripting and programming skills (SystemVerilog, UVM, Tcl, Python, or similar).
- Must-have: Demonstrated ability to document technical work and communicate methodology across distributed teams.
- Must-have: Proven debugging and flow-optimization skills across tools and design files.
- Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience prototyping and integrating agentic AI tools into EDA workflows.
- Nice-to-have: Prior experience delivering reference subsystems for IP portfolios or customer engagements.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Advanced degrees (MS/PhD) are a plus.
