Job Title

FPGA Verification Engineer — UVM, SystemVerilog & Debugging

Role Summary

Verify FPGA designs using industry-standard verification methodologies. The engineer will develop verification plans, implement UVM/SystemVerilog testbenches, run simulations, and perform root-cause debugging to improve product quality.

Work closely with RTL designers, FPGA bring-up engineers, and system teams to validate functionality and report issues clearly.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Years of experience not specified.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibility is to plan and execute verification for FPGA projects and ensure functional quality of delivered designs.

  • Develop verification plans and define coverage goals for FPGA designs.
  • Implement UVM-based testbenches and SystemVerilog verification components.
  • Create directed and constrained-random tests; collect and analyze functional coverage.
  • Run simulations, perform waveform analysis, and diagnose design failures.
  • Integrate verification IP and leverage industry tools to automate test execution.
  • Collaborate with RTL designers and hardware engineers to reproduce, isolate, and resolve bugs.
  • Document verification results, report defects, and participate in design/verification reviews.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and tools for the role, followed by common desirable skills.

  • Must-have: Strong experience with SystemVerilog and UVM for FPGA/RTL verification.
  • Must-have: Hands-on debugging skills using simulation and waveform analysis tools.
  • Must-have: Experience developing verification plans, writing tests, and tracking coverage.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., Questa, VCS) and version control systems.
  • Must-have: Scripting skills for automation (Python, TCL, or similar).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with FPGA families (Xilinx/Intel) and board bring-up.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of timing constraints, synthesis, or lab debugging workflows.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
