FPGA Verification Engineer - Avionics
Role Summary
Develop and maintain verification infrastructure for flight-critical satellite avionics FPGA designs. You will implement UVM-based testbenches, create coverage-driven verification plans, and verify RTL across multiple subsystems.
Work closely with FPGA designers and system engineers to establish a rigorous verification methodology for the program.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires 4+ years of FPGA or ASIC verification experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop UVM verification environments including agents, scoreboards, and bit-accurate reference models.
- Create and maintain a reusable UVM framework supporting multiple FPGA targets and configurations.
- Author verification plans derived from requirements and architectural documents.
- Develop functional coverage models and drive coverage closure.
- Perform RTL simulation using industry-standard simulators and run regressions.
- Verify clock-domain crossings and perform timing/stability analysis.
- Apply lint and static-analysis tools to identify design issues early.
- Support hardware bring-up by modeling hardware interactions in simulation and documenting results.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements and close verification gaps.
Requirements
Must-have
- 4+ years of FPGA or ASIC verification experience.
- Strong expertise in SystemVerilog and UVM-based verification methodology.
- Experience building UVM agents, environments, and generating constrained-random stimulus.
- Proficiency with at least one industry-standard RTL simulator.
- Practical experience with functional coverage techniques and coverage-driven verification.
- Ability to read PCB schematics and hardware interfaces to develop tests.
- Experience creating tests to model hardware interactions and documenting verification results.
Nice-to-have
- Experience verifying designs for space, aerospace, or high-reliability applications.
- Familiarity with formal verification tools.
- Background in embedded software interaction with FPGA firmware.
- Experience with continuous integration workflows for verification regressions.
- Proficiency in Python, TCL, or shell scripting for test automation.
- Exposure to DFMEA and high-reliability digital design review processes.
- Experience with lint and CDC analysis tools.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
