FPGA Software Engineer Intern

Role Summary

As an FPGA Software Engineer Intern you will develop FPGA solutions for next-generation Ethernet IP, participate in IP and system development from specification to release, and perform FPGA-based hardware validation. You will work on a product engineering team using Agile practices and collaborate with local and remote engineers.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Student / Intern). Intended for undergraduate students; expects at least 3+ months of relevant coursework or practical experience.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities vary by project and may include:

  • Contribute to the full development lifecycle of IP and systems: specification, implementation, verification, review, and release.
  • Develop and validate FPGA designs and perform hardware validation activities.
  • Write and maintain software and scripts used in design flows and validation.
  • Work within an Agile development process and deliver incremental, testable results.
  • Communicate progress and issues with local and remote team members; participate in design reviews and documentation.

Requirements

Essential technical skills and experience:

  • Digital design experience with FPGA or ASIC flows using Verilog or VHDL.
  • Software development experience in C or C++.
  • Scripting experience in Python and/or TCL.
  • Hands-on ability to perform FPGA hardware validation and debugging.
  • Effective verbal and written communication; ability to work in distributed teams.
  • Nice-to-have: familiarity with Ethernet IP or high-speed interface concepts and practical exposure to Agile engineering practices.

Education Requirements

Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a similar technical field. The posting expects at least 3+ months of relevant coursework or practical experience.
