Job Title

FPGA SoC Embedded Engineer (RTOS, Xilinx/Intel)

Role Summary

Develop real-time embedded software for FPGA SoC platforms, working at the hardware/software boundary and collaborating closely with FPGA and hardware teams. The role focuses on firmware, RTOS-based applications, low-level drivers, and system-level debugging to support satellite-based IoT communications systems.

Experience Level

Mid-level (Level - Mid-Career). Typical candidate: 3–7 years of embedded/SoC experience.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain firmware and RTOS-based applications, integrate with FPGA designs, and resolve system-wide hardware/software issues.

  • Develop embedded firmware in C/C++ for SoC systems.
  • Design and maintain RTOS-based, multi-threaded applications; manage interrupts and scheduling.
  • Implement low-level drivers and hardware interfaces (memory-mapped I/O, DMA).
  • Integrate with FPGA designs: register access, control paths, and data movement.
  • Debug system-level issues across hardware and software using low-level tools.
  • Collaborate with FPGA and hardware teams to define interfaces and validate designs.
  • Optimize software for real-time performance and reliability.

Requirements

Must-have skills are listed first; preferred skills follow.

  • Must have: Experience with at least one real-time operating system (RTOS).
  • Must have: Strong C/C++ programming skills.
  • Must have: Hands-on experience with Xilinx or Intel (Altera) SoC FPGA platforms.
  • Must have: Experience implementing drivers, interrupts, scheduling, and memory-mapped interfaces.
  • Must have: Proven ability to debug hardware/software interactions and system-level issues.
  • Nice to have: Experience with Zephyr or Embedded Linux.
  • Nice to have: Experience with JTAG and low-level debugging tools.
  • Nice to have: Knowledge of 5G PHY and MAC layer concepts.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
